Spreading climbing fever as 2023 season starts in Switzerland

03.03.2023

The Swiss climbing elite starts the new season this weekend and the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023 is always present. Attention will be drawn to the top event in August – but we will also see which names we should keep in mind for the World Championships.

On Saturday 4 March, Switzerland will start the 2023 climbing competition season. Around one hundred registered athletes will then compete in bouldering at the Spinnerei Indoor in Ibach and hope to qualify for the Swiss Bouldering Championships in Bulle on 1 April. Another qualifying event for the Swiss Championships is the SAC Swiss Climbing Cup in Zurich-Oerlikon on 18 March.

March, thus, has again a lot to offer for climbing fans and for the association “WM Sportklettern 2023” it is now a matter of gaining momentum as they will be able to increase awareness among the climbing enthusiasts in the halls. The major event will be promoted on site and the spectators in Ibach, Oerlikon and Bulle will even have the chance to win tickets to the IFSC Climbing and Paraclimbing World Championships 2023.

At the same time, it is Switzerland’s climbing elite that will meet at the competitions and these events will be a first performance indicator for the athletes – and in view of the World Championships 2023, it will be interesting to see which names climbing fans should note down.

Entry to the Swiss Climbing Cups and Boulder Swiss Championships is free, but those who cannot experience the action live on site do not have to miss out as the competitions will be broadcast. Click here to follow the events via livestream.
