Name the World Championship mascot

04.04.2023

The mascot of the IFSC Climbing and Paraclimbing World Championships 2023 in Bern is … a chamois! For now, it is still missing a name but until 7 May 2023 you have the chance to name it and win great prizes while doing so.

They are at home on the rock and love climbing: the chamois. When the search began for a mascot for the IFSC Climbing World Championships 2023, it quickly became clear that the chamois, which is also immortalised in the logo of the Swiss Alpine Club SAC, should represent the major sporting event in Bern.

In the picture above it is still in “everyday clothes”, but soon the mascot will go on tour in sporting attire, starting at the BEA fair, which will take place on the grounds of the World Championship location partner BERNEXPO from 28 April to 7 May. After that, it will be seen at numerous side events of the Climbing World Championships 2023, as well as at selected events of the SAC Kids Climbing Cup.

After the World Championships in August, the mascot, which will soon be available as a cuddly toy in the SAC shop, will continue to represent the SAC.

Charmy, Berni or Rocky?

At the moment, the World Championship mascot is still missing a name. There are three possibilities to choose from – Charmy, Berni and Rocky – and at www.sac-cas.ch/wettbewerb everyone can cast their vote and help decide what the mascot should be called.

The chamois will then be named at the BEA – on 7 May 2023 at 14:00 o’clock at the stand “WM Sportklettern 2023 SAC”.
