After four World Cups in Asia and North America, six more stops in Europe are on the programme as of June. The organisers of the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023 will also be on site at the European World Cups to promote the highlight of the competition season.
The World Cups in Hachioji (Japan), Seoul (Republic of Korea), Jakarta (Indonesia) and Salt Lake City (USA) are already done and dusted. In the bouldering and lead disciplines as well as in paraclimbing, we were able to get a first impression of who might be among the favourites at the World Championships in Bern in August.
In the bouldering competitions, the female athletes from the USA and Japan, in particular, as well as from France and Germany proved that they are to be reckoned with, while in the men’s competitions, Korea, Belgium and Great Britain were also represented among the top places, alongside France and Japan.
In the Speed discipline, records were broken at the first World Cup in Seoul right away – and several times at that. Not surprisingly, Poland’s Aleksandra Miroslaw is the one to beat this season. Three Speed World Cups have taken place so far and she has been at the top of the podium at the end of all of them. In general, it’s the athletes from Poland, Indonesia and PR of China that should be kept in mind for Bern 2023 – the latter nations are also the ones to watch out for in the men’s competitions.

In paraclimbing, too, the athletes from the USA and France were particularly impressive. Austria and Romania were also represented on the podium.

The next highlight is the Boulder World Cup in Prague, which will take place in the capital of the Czech Republic from 2 to 4 June. For the first time, the organisers of the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023 will be on site at a World Cup to promote the major sporting event in August.
After the World Cup in Prague, a small team from the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023 will be on site at all subsequent World Cups to answer questions from visitors. If you visit the World Cups in Prague, Bressanone (Brixen), Innsbruck, Villars, Chamonix or Briançon, stop by and find out more about ticketing, the programme and everything there is to know about the IFSC Climbing World Championships 2023 in Bern.
