World Cup season about to start

20.04.2023

Before the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023, 10 IFSC Climbing World Cups and three IFSC Paraclimbing World Cups will show which athletes we should keep in mind for August.

Eagerly awaited, the international competition season begins tomorrow with the Boulder World Cup in Hachioji (Japan). It will be the first event where athletes can compete internationally and assess their performance in the World Championship year more accurately.

In total, there will be 10 IFSC Climbing World Cups and three IFSC Paraclimbing World Cups until the IFSC Climbing World Championships Bern 2023 – 13 events for the sport climbing elite to demonstrate their skills. After the World Cups in Asia in April and early May, it is off to North America, to the USA. The first World Cup in Europe will be held in Czech Republic’s capital Prague at the beginning of June. The remaining World Cups up to the World Championships will be held in Switzerland and its neighbouring countries and will, thus, once again offer plenty of opportunities to draw attention to the major sporting event in August – and to attract as many spectators as possible to the PostFinance Arena in Bern.

Six Swiss athletes are also competing in Japan and the Republic of Korea in April – Sascha Lehmann and Nils Favre in the men’s event and Petra Klingler, Andrea Kümin, Sofya Yokoyama and Liv in the women’s competition.
